Vermejo Park Ranch is a 558,000 acre ranch in northeast New Mexico.  The operation encompasses a sustainable forestry operation, guest services, recreational fishing, hunting and nature tourism venues, bison production, infrastructure construction/ maintenance, coal bed natural gas development / production, and endangered species restoration.

 

Vermejo Park Ranch is seeking a Forester to be an integral member of our Natural Resources Team with the responsibility to manage over 350,000 forested acres; for forest health, wildlife habitat, carbon sequestration, reduced risk of catastrophic fire, and long-term value. Approximately 60% of the Forester’s time will be spent in the field on a variety of tasks including timber harvest supervision, harvest boundary layout, marking stream buffers, prescribed fire planning and implementation, and other similar tasks in a variety of weather conditions over difficult terrain. Approximately 40% of the Forester’s time will be spent in the office documenting forest practices, forest products production and sale, including carbon sequestration, administration of harvesting crews, and forestry planning.

 

Salary will be dependent on experience.
