Join ATCO as the Supervisor, Forestry Operations in the eastern portion of our service territory. This pivotal role oversees the development and implementation of vegetation management programs on distribution and transmission rights-of-way and facilities.

You will provide strategic leadership, direction, and supervision to our Regional Forestry staff and contractors. This role offers the chance to make significant impacts on operational efficiency, safety, and environmental stewardship.

What You Get to Do:
Lead Forestry Field teams in operational planning and delivery of vegetation management for Transmission & Distribution rights-of-way.
Develop and oversee the execution of annual work plans, ensuring alignment with business and safety objectives.
Manage budgeting and cost control, including annual expenditures for contract services.
Drive the adoption of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Support regulatory and compliance reporting, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal groups, third-party entities, and regulatory bodies to support vegetation management initiatives.
Facilitate training, development, and performance management of forestry operations staff.
Navigate and resolve community and stakeholder concerns effectively, fostering strong external relationships.

Travel Requirements:
Requires significant travel throughout the eastern service territory
Valid class 5 vehicle operator’s license and a clean drivers abstract required.

What You Bring:
Minimum five years of experience in forestry or vegetation management.
Certification as a Utility Vegetation Management Professional, Registered Professional Forester, or Registered Professional Forest Technologist, in good standing with the Association of Alberta Forest Management Professionals.
Strong leadership skills with proven experience in utility vegetation management.
Solid grasp of relevant Provincial/Federal legislation and a commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Ability to manage contractors and projects in excess of $1m.
Demonstrated cross cultural skills with a willingness to learn and understand treaties, land claims and traditional land use issues.
