First Resource Management Group (FRMG) is a growth-oriented firm situated in northeast and southeastern Ontario and Quebec. Our goal is to provide sustainable resource management services to our clients throughout Ontario and Quebec. Our multidiscipline team provides management services on 10 million hectares of Crown Forest in Ontario and Quebec. The scale of our operations creates a diversity of forestry challenges and a unique opportunity for new team members to learn from other professionals. Our core competency in forest program planning and implementation allows our forest industry, government and Indigenous clients to focus on their own core businesses, that is tenure and supply chain management. We are active in developing nature-based solutions for our environment and climate. Our SkyForest ™ remote sensing technology is being used on forests across Canada. Come grow with FRMG.

FRMG rewards entrepreneurial leadership, innovation, continual improvement, a focus on customer satisfaction, and dedication to collaborative teamwork within our organization.

With respect and an emphasis on client satisfaction, you will work along side other foresters and technicians in the delivery of a large-scale silviculture program in the northeastern and southeastern Ontario. Working closely with your counter parts and those responsible for the overall management of the forest, you will be empowered to communicate actively and frequently with our clients, your colleagues and team members. Your strong inter-personal and communication skills will allow you to work effectively with your colleagues, our clients, Indigenous Peoples, government staff and other forest stakeholders.

At all times, quality client service delivery is top of mind. You understand the value of careful planning and being organized. You value your relationship and the hard work of our suppliers. You appreciate divergent opinions, as they help improve outcomes. A confident attitude about your expertise and abilities, and your organizational skills, and attention to detail will help you become a valued contributor and member of our overall forest management team. You have a sincere appreciation for process and project management, and you’re eager to help us develop and improve our internal systems. With the mutual support of your peers, you want to learn how to continuously refine your work approach and produce more cost-effective outcomes.

Above all, health and safety is the most important aspect of your work, and nothing else is more important.

What you offer

  • You have experience, appreciation, curiosity and knowledge about silvics, stand dynamics, development and growth of trees, founded on a broad understanding of the forest ecosystem, its hydrology, soils and ecology.
  • Your GIS skills are good, and you don’t mind using GIS to make yourself more efficient.
  • You have more than 3 years of relevant experience and you’re at home in the outdoors. • You communicate well (speak and write) in English but you understand that bilingualism is an advantage in northeastern Ontario.
  • Doing the right thing, all of the time, is your personal commitment. • You are authentic, autonomous, and self-motivated.
  • Your colleagues want you on their team.

You have the motivation to deal with situations quickly and efficiently. You like goals and you are prepared to set them for yourself. You are able to communicate and take criticism from your peers and our clients, always with the objective of improving yourself and your service delivery.
