Overview

The Silviculture Forester is part of the Arkansas/Oklahoma Region in Southern Timberlands and will report to the Cossatot Area Manager. It is a full-time, exempt position located near De Queen, AR. This role involves office and field time to plan and manage the activities required to support sustainable management of the Cossatot Area Tree Farm.

Key Functions

As a Silviculture Forester, you will be responsible for the safe implementation of silviculture practices which includes all activities from stand establishment through mid-rotation, field recon/verification, contract administration, maintaining timely updates, and forecasting accuracy to ensure financial performance. You will also work together with other team members, the Silviculture Manager, and Area Manager to execute the silviculture plan in compliance with regional silviculture strategy and the annual plan. The Silviculture Forester role is area-based and working together with other functions is critical to the success of the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Agriculture, Forestry, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic
  • Proven track record of collaborative decision making
  • Proactive safety leader with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Operational experience in project management and contract administration
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a team or individually
  • Capability to prioritize work activities and assignments
  • Willing and able to perform field work in a variety of weather conditions and drive in all weather and road conditions, which may include up to 50% on dirt or gravel
  • Willingness and ability to support projects or initiatives outside of your function or area
  • Eager to work in a diverse team environment
  • Prepared to participate in wildfire suppression activities as needed
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Weyerhaeuser Silvicultural practices
  • Willing to live within a 60-minute commute of the Cossatot Area Office for business needs

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $56,547 – $100,055 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
