Job Summary:

The Registered Professional Forester (RPF) will be responsible for overseeing the sustainable management of forests, forest lands, and forest resources in British Columbia. This includes designing and implementing forest management plans, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, signing permits, and making key decisions on harvesting, reforestation, and ecosystem rehabilitation. The successful candidate will work closely with other forest professionals, stakeholders, and communities to achieve long-term forest health and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in and advocate for our safety culture.
  • Assist in managing and implementing sustainable forest management plans.
  • Lead and participate in planning, permitting, and project management activities.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with our Partner to deliver Multiphase Forest Development Projects. The projects start at the reconnaissance phase and we support our clients in submission of their permit applications.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships across various sectors to support land and resource stewardship.
  • Participate in committees, roundtables, and public meetings as a representative of GES.
  • Coordinate forest operations schedules, contract management, and compliance with operational plans and legal requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive forest management plans to ensure sustainable use and conservation of forest resources.
  • Make informed decisions on when, where, and how to conduct operations while ensuring the protection of wildlife, water quality, and other forest values.
  • Design and supervise reforestation and forest rehabilitation projects to promote ecosystem health and resilience.
  • Conduct assessments and monitoring of forest health, growth, and biodiversity to guide management practices and policy development.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, stakeholders, and Indigenous communities in the planning and management of forest lands.
  • Ensure compliance with Forest Professionals Regulation, and other relevant environmental legislation and policies.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with advancements in forestry science and best practices.


  • Minimum 3 years of forestry experience.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Forestry Professionals of British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) is an asset. Registration or eligibility for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) is also considered.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proficient in GIS and other forestry applications.
  • Knowledge of BC forest legislation, policies, and guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of forest ecology, management principles, and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in forest management planning, operations, and conservation strategies.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and communities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and adherence to the standards and regulations of the forestry profession.
