Overview

Biewer Lumber is searching for a Millwright. The main objective of this role is to maintain all equipment in a manner that allows for safe operation. Maintain equipment that prevents any downtime from occurring from mechanical failure. Maintain inside and outside of all buildings.

We are a family of businesses that operate 7 lumber and building products companies with more than 600 employees throughout the Midwest and South that include sawmills, treating plants and distribution operations. Accountabilities –

  • Must keep equipment operational at all times
  • Perform preventative and regular maintenance on equipment, buildings, tools, and any/all machinery
  • Make mechanical adjustments where needed to meet product demands
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner
  • Keep fork trucks safe and operable
  • Perform setup, adjustments, and all maintenance
  • Practice hazardous waste and material handling procedures
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance problems and/or repairs. Order supplies and parts as needed
  • Maintain a safe workplace and culture, and complete required safety forms, checklists and permits.
  • Perform Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Responsibly follow all safety procedures and policies, work together with co-workers to ensure a safe working environment and report all accidents or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Ensure maintenance department is kept orderly and clean

Qualifications –

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Have working knowledge of welding, electrical, and hydraulic and control technology
  • Familiar with safe equipment practices
  • At least 3 years of previous maintenance experience
  • Experience reading technical diagrams, blue prints, and manuals
