We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Log Scaler to join our team. As a Log Scaler, you will be responsible for accurately measuring and assessing the quality of logs in a log yard or forestry setting. This is a vital role in ensuring the efficient processing and utilization of logs for production.

– Measure and record the length, diameter, and volume of logs using various tools such as calipers and tape measures
– Inspect logs for defects, such as knots, rot, or insect damage
– Classify logs based on their quality and grade
– Maintain accurate records of log measurements and assessments
– Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth log processing operations
– Operate forklifts or other equipment to move logs as needed
– Utilize computer software, such as AutoCAD, to generate reports and analyze log data

– Strong mathematical skills for accurate log measurements and calculations
– Proficiency in operating machinery used in log handling would be an asset
– Power tools and hand tools used in carpentry or fabrication
– Attention to detail to identify defects or irregularities in logs
– Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and reports
