Green Diamond is currently seeking a qualified candidate for this high level management position at the California operations located in Humboldt County. The Forest Policy Manager serves to maintain and enhance the Company’s reputation in the state capital, among state agencies and the local community. This role serves as the Company’s primary contact with legislators, legislative staff, lobbyists, key state trade associations, and state agency leadership regarding state regulatory, employment, tax policy and other business environment matters.
This manager is an integral part of the public affairs team and supervises the Community Affairs Representative who attends to local Humboldt/Del Norte County public relations issues. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining independent sustainable forest management certification, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), in California. This position reports to the Director of Policy, Partnerships, and Sustainability and regularly advises and assists the Vice President and General Manager for California Operations on identification and response to strategic policy matters affecting the Company and California operations.
Requires a degree in communications, public relations, business, or related field with experience in natural resource issues. Must have excellent public speaking ability, be highly motivated, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental issues with a strong understanding of the regulatory and legislative process.
