General Labourer

Our company: For over 80 years and four generations, our family has been inspired by forests and the endless possibilities for designing and building with wood. We began as a horse-logging operation in 1939 and have grown to become an industry-leading mass timber provider with a high-tech sawmill. From seedlings to solutions, we see our products through the entire process — from forest management to manufacturing, design, prefabrication, and delivery. As an independent, family-owned, and operated company, we recognize that people are our most valuable resource. As we continue to grow, we’re searching for individuals who enjoy a hands-on approach to work tasks and thrive in a team-based environment. Role and objectives: The General Labourer will be required to perform tasks involving physical labor at an assembly plant and will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Support Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, Drywallers, and Painters. Responsibilities will include the assembly of products using bolts, screws, clips, and assorted fasteners. The General Labourer will be responsible for the efficient production of products according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies. Responsibilities: Read blueprints and other technical diagrams. Bolt, screw, clip, weld, or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand and power tools and equipment. Operate and tend automated assembling equipment such as robotic and fixed automation equipment. Connect cables, tubes, and wires to complete assemblies and installations under supervision. Position and install parts, subassemblies, and accessories using hand and power tools and other aids like overhead hoists. Mark, record, and report defects Test electrical assemblies, equipment, and wiring for proper performance using testing devices such as meters, analyzers, and timing lights. Clean and perform preparation of worksite. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Lubricate, clean, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools. Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices when working in confined spaces and/or hazardous environments. Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines. Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. Requirements: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Post-Secondary diploma in a related field preferred (1) year of experience as a General Labourer Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred. Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Effective verbal and listening communications skills. Time management skills Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams. Critical eye for identifying defects. Commitment to quality and safety Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current. Respect diversity – treat others with respect. Avoid unnecessary conflict. Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various assembly processes. Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job. Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule. Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor.
