As part of its Forestry Initiative, Daki Menan Lands and Resources Corporation (DMLRC) is recruiting

forestry crew members for contract positions. This is a seasonal position.

Job Description:

Crew Members will assist the Crew Boss/General Manager with the following tasks:

  • Assist in the completion of forestry projects (e.g. tree planting and thinning).
  • Utilize GPS software (Avenza) to provide mapping.
  • Work with DMLRC staff in completing project proposals (e.g. 2 Billion Trees Initiative).
  • Work alongside the crew in tree planting, thinning, sawmill and firewood operations.
  • Will be expected to work outdoors.

Successful applicants are expected to:

  • Arrive to work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain good hygiene (shower, deodorant, brush teeth, etc.).
  • Always follow all Safety Procedures and Policies.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and timely manner.
  • Adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols if required.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs (pounds).

The following are considered assets for applicants:

  • Valid Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Experience and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Experience operating and maintaining chainsaws and brush saws.
  • Certified completion of the Professional Chainsaw Operator training course.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety standards and safe working practices.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • Positive attitude.

Successful applicants will be responsible for providing their own CSA-approved Grade 1 steel-toed work

boots with at least 8 inches of ankle protection. Appropriate protective raingear is highly

recommended. All other Personal Protective Equipment will be provided (e.g. high visibility vest, hard

hat with visor and ear protection, safety glasses, chainsaw gloves and pants).

Work Schedule & Rate of Pay:

  • This is a full-time position with an average of 35 hours per week.
  • Wage: $18/hour

Work Location:

Sawmilling and firewood operations will take place at the DMLRC office/yard located at 6167 Highway

11 North. Forest renewal operations will take place in various locations. For out-of-town work

activities, accommodations (camper trailers) and meals or food allowance will be provided.
