Licensed Authorizations Officer – Water
$67,931.58 – $86,624.56 annually

The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated water, land and natural resource management and cross-sector legislation, policy and objective setting for land and marine environments.

The Licensed Authorizations Officer – Water works in a variety of settings and provides professional advice, support and recommendations regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of water licence applications for the Natural Resource Sector. This position works primarily with a collaborative team in an office-based environment, with occasional work out in the field.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a professional (i.e. Registered Professional Forester, Registered Professional Agrologist, or Professional Engineer/Geoscientist) with the British Columbia association as required by the specialty area (Forest Professionals (FPBC), Institute of Agrologists (BCIA), Engineers and Geoscientists (EGBC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment. Applicants who are currently in-training/articling may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
  • Degree in the natural resource field, or equivalent, as recognized by the relevant association.

Related experience may include:

  • Experience related to the development and analysis of environmental or natural resources management policy.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with partners and stakeholders in natural resource management.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with First Nations, other levels of government, stakeholders, and industry.
